or here or message me for my email. We have a tight printer deadline!
Hi Grobies!!
We are beginning to collect recipes for a new Per Te Cafe cookbook! We hope to have a cookbook ready for the holiday auction. Cruisin in my Porsche has created a message board for us to coordinate the details. See our cookbook web site , and if you are interested, please join us there. People may not cook much anymore (I do!), but they read cookbooks, and we want to produce something that is entertaining and beautiful to look at.
If you are interested, please post here or on the cookbook message board (better) and message me your email address if you want to be on the mailing list.
The theme for the cookbook is INTERNATIONAL and some subthemes are traditional cooking, healthy cooking, cooking with kids and fusion cuisine. I would like to have African style fonts and artwork in the cookbook, and maybe some other geographical themes as well. We are working on titles right now. On the cookbook discussion board (link above) there is a thread. One possible title "Feed the World" and another is "Per Te Cafe Internationale" , with accents in the right places. Others are in the thread at the cookbook message board. Please give us your ideas!!
Possible chapter titles include
"AWAKE" for breakfast food,
"MACHINE" for blender and food processing recipes,
"My heart was home again" - for favorite food from childhood,
"Lullaby" for favorite bedtime snacks,
"Noel" for Holiday dishes (all holidays, all cultures, all traditions),
"Smile" for desserts,
"Solo Por Ti" for romantic dinners /cooking for two,
"To Where You Are" for recipes donated in memory of a loved one (I get teary thinking about this chapter)
"You Raise Me Up" for recipes honoring someone who inspired you (or maybe this section should be about bread -lol)
Deb (DebJH on FOJG) is going to coordinate printing for us, a huge job!!
Please post your recipes on the cookbook message board or here. Any little tidbits of information about nutrition, traditions, history or source of the recipe are nice to have as well. We will try to publish all recipes submitted as long as they are original (not from another published source), or if the published source is out of print and is old (decades, please). If so, please tell us the source so we can credit them. Recipes for Josh to try are also welcome (silly or serious)!
There are lots of other activities for which we need help - collecting/editing recipes, attaching quotes, selecting some Josh photos from the available list, creating a cookbook index, editing the cookbook text, and other tasks.
Once we settle on a title, there will be a cookbook cover contest!! We'll try to use all the artwork submitted in the cookbook. We might also include a little "freebie" with the cookbook - a button or apron or something, depending on our time and energy!
Here are the activities and Grobies who have already volunteered:
* Submit recipes - everyone can contribute
* Create index - need help here
* Check index - Vanessa (Nessa7)
* Help with cover contest - Pat (patticake), Joanne (Skylark)
* Provide nutrition/history information - Deb (DebJD)
* Edit recipes and cookbook text - Heather (Fairygarden), Diana (Diana)
* Assign recipes to sections - Joanne (Skylark)
* Computer support - Anne-Laure (nalf)
* Find quotes that relate to the content - Cruisin, Anne-Laure, Diana
* Artwork - Marolyn (?)
* Proofread - Sue (prplpshn)
* Selecting Josh photos - Joanne (Skylark)
Just to give you an idea of what we are doing, I've posted an excerpt from the first Per Te Cafe cookbook. Here is the cookbook excerpt.
