Oh my goodness! This morning was so awesome! The memories are branded in me for life. Sorry if I sound a bit boring because Amy, Sharon and me walked around Manhattan a lot.
Well first I got up around 4 AM and Sharon (my sister) got up at 4:30 (zzzz lol) and my dad got ready to drive to Bryant Park. As we were heading for the car, we sang Canto Alla Vita under the near-dawn sky on the empty sidewalk LOL!
When we got there, my dad dropped us off, and Sharon and I joined the line. The line was kind of small and we met up with a fellow Grobie named Kelly (tatianajg) and her relative. We had a cool time then we met another Grobie who I've never met named Amy (twitterpated) and we started talking. We helped take pictures with the some ladies from Kentucky and one lady had a sign that said "I'm 50 today Josh! So can I have a hug?" LOL . The wait in line would have been a bit better if I didn't have to use the portable bathrooms (did I just type that? LOL) and a pile of barf near us lol. Amy grabbed a cup of coffee at a Starbucks and then….
WE FINALLY GOT LET IN! At 7:00 they opened the gate and we walked in very very nervous lol. It was starting to drizzle a bit. We waited in a crowd and Josh was supposed to come on stage and do sound checks pretty soon. AND THEN! A lady called me, Amy and Sharon over and asked us to stand in a small crowd of people with Sam Champion as he reported the weather!! Now, Sharon and I have seen Sam on tv for years and years (she even crushed on him at one time LOOOL ) and we were finally going to meet him! Sam Champion came out and I asked him how Alaska was and sled dogs were. He said they were great and he explained how the dogs aren't abused in the sled business. So when it was time to film, Sharon got a chance to hold up his microphone- but then he decided he would hold it. SO SHARON AND I AND AMY GOT ON TV!!!!!!! You can look for us-if you taped it, when Sam is reporting about how hot some states are. We're the little crowd of people. Sharon is in the white coat and I'm right behind her and to Sharon's left is Amy. That was so cool! And we saw Lucia practicing and the orchestra warming up. Sam Champion did his weather shot with us and then we had to go back down to the general audience! But it's kind of sad because the view wasn't so bad! But then….
Then we saw Josh rehearsing !!!!!!!!!!! He sat at the piano! He was so happy! He made jokes like singing "Heeeey, heeeeey, heeeeey!" and "mi mi mi mi mi, la la la la la la!!!!!" And he also joked if he could slide on the metal platform in front of him lol. He practiced what songs he was going to sing:
1. You Raise Me Up
(This wasn't shown on tv) 3. Alla Luce Del Sole
He also did a little bit of February Song during sound check.
And he also saw my sign which said 'HUG ME JOSH! I'M A GROBIE! Please?' and he grinned and waved! *THUDLY THUD THUD* and he also saw me waving at him and he grinned-then I proceeded to jump up and down! There were also signs that said Chess and some lady was wearing a Siyawela shirt! I also met another Grobie (she doesn't consider herself one but I think she is- sorry I forgot her name.) He also sang jokingly for a YRMU sound check "Until you come…and stand in the rain with me." (That got on tv too I think) *THUD* Also some lady screamed really loudly- and when I say loudly, I mean louuuudly lol *cringes*.
Another entertainer interviewed some people and some people got to Bryant Park at 7:00 PM last night! Some at 9:00! Some at midnight!
Josh said he was going to take a walk around the block and go get his raincoat. During this break, Ed asked someone if they would like to sing a Josh song! Some girl sang a BEAUTIFUL version of "Believe". I hope Josh heard.
After some more jokes and sound checks with the entertainer guy Ed, the REAL performance began! And it was awesome! He sang everything so beautifully! It's always been my Grobie dream to see Josh sing under a canopy of trees (I wrote a fanfic about that) and it finally came true! It was also my Grobie dream to actually SEE him sing as he sang. Not like a small speck but to actually see his mouth move- like on the tv or a dvd. As he sang, the trees moved back and forth, the wind blew, and the rain was pouring down hard now, but we Grobies didn't mind. Rain or shine, sleet or snow, we're here for Josh Groban ! Josh said he appreciated it!
For YRMU, he walked on the metal platform and held hands! That was so sweet because he let the fans who didn't get a chance to be in the front get to see him as much as the ones who were in the front. Then after the song was done, he titled his head back and opened his mouth to taste the rain. LOOOL!
As he sang Awake, he kept looking at the audience
Then the funniest thing happened!!! For Alla Luce Del Sole, which literally in translation means (thanks Nay) "By the Light of the Sun", my sister and I had asked each other "Wouldn't it be so cool if the sun came out as Josh sang the note Alla Luce Del Sole?" Well here's the thing- the sun didn't come out when he sang that note BUUT, the rain stopped! Or at least to a small small drizzle. Sharon and I also sang with Josh as he sang that song and I think he saw us singing along with him! And Josh also sang looking heavenward.
Then Josh thanked everybody and went. Everybody began to file out but Sharon, me and Amy went to meet Tim Curl!!!! And we got pictures with him! Then he had to go- but then we asked Ed where Josh would be coming out of. He said the Bryant Park Hotel- and that's where we headed!
We find a small group of people outside the hotel! And we see standing around with no crowd behind her…LUCIA MICRAELLI! I can't believe nobody was talking to her or even recognized her! She was right behind us near her van. Since Sharon wants to play the violin soooooo badly, she FREAKED! She shook Lucia's hand, and I took several fan pictures of her and Sharon and another Grobie. I told her I wanted to play the piano just like Josh and she said "Go for it!" or something. That was really inspiring . She signed an autograph for us that said "Love and Wonder- Lucia Micarelli" *Insert Sharon scream here* LOOL!
And we meet by no reason or plan, NYJosher! We exchange who we are, give hugs, and of course, I praise her drawing. She's draws EXCELLENTLY!
I wanted to try again with the gifts this time and asked a lady up front if she could give them to Josh when he came out. She agreed and the suspension built. Amy found a security guard's VIP pass on the sidewalk and wanted to keep it lol. We had a little questioning of which should keep it lol. Tim came out, then Tariq, then Craig. We all knew who had to be next. There was no mistaking it. Pretty soon- JOSH CAME OUT!!!!!!
Unfortunately, the suspension, as always, built up so much, people shoved themselves in his face. One girl (I'm guessing maybe she was the girlfriend of the guy that wrote "For Josh's sake-please read") told everybody to back off and calm down and have courtesy for Josh. That was good.)
He also posed for a few pictures. A few seconds later, the lady comes walking back empty handed and I ask her if Josh took the books. He did!!!! And it turns out (Siena, Lisa, Moooose get ready to scream), that right now, Josh has your letter (and your cd Lisa) and Josh now owns my sister's book that she published! And my drawing of Simba! *FAINT .THUD*
And I guess that lady was telling Josh something that those books were from a fan behind her (me) or he recognized that I got a haircut lol or he recognized me all together. Anyhow, as the lady was handing Josh the books, he just…looked at me. I wonder what he was thinking lol. But I feel kinda stupid, because I was kind of frowning and looking away. I guess it was understandable- I was soaked! LOL!
Then something so cool happened that Sharon is still spazzing about! Sharon reached over her hand and Josh took her hand!!! She said his fingers felt warm and dry. Like a shelter from the cold and rain just like with me at BAM . *INSERT SHARON SCREAM HERE*
So he left in his van and we were all so excited and hyper. Then it was time to walk Amy back to her bus terminal. We talked about a lot of things on the way, we got lost LOL which let us have more time together.
On the way we saw a homeless man that needed money to get on a shuttle bus and we all gave him some money. We finally found Amy's bus terminal and we decided that Amy should keep the VIP pass that said "Josh Groban Bryant Park May 16, 2008 VIP Good Morning America" She acted like a mom to me and she gave me a Josh Valentines day card she wanted Josh to sign that has a picture of Josh in some shadows and says "Have a Grobanite Valentines day!" and then on the back it shows Josh's back and says "Everybody dance now…" We hugged some more and then we had to go. I hope to see you again soon Amy!
On the way to our subway train, we had a bag of white bread which we gave a homeless old lady. She really appreciated it . On the way home, we COULD NOT stop talking about what happened that morning. It was awesome and something we'll treasure forever. Today's GMA is a piece of our family's history now, literally. I can't believe we got on tv, the same camera that was focused on Josh was on us. *faint*. Thank you Josh most of all for performing out in the rain when you came alllll the way from London and you were in NYC before that as well. You were awesome in Chess! Thank you Kelly and Amy for meeting up with us! I hope to see you soon! And Siena and the rest, Josh knows who you are now!!!!!!! *SCREAMMMMMMMMM*
