It seems to me that we can take a lesson from Josh: pay it forward with a smile for all the people you meet, be positive, take a stand, give a
complement, never say anything bad about anyone, keep a happy face, support good causes, speak the truth, disavow racism, and stereotyping. Have you ever
heard Josh say anything bad about anyone? He never falls into a trap during an interview, but turns questionable inquiries into a positive statement. I have
never heard him dis another performer, or be grumpy about a situation. He is sincere, comforting, and mannerly. If we learn nothing but this from Josh we
will be doing well. It is why his music goes deep into our souls; he speaks the truth from his heart and his performance reflects that. I know he can be
moody and cross at times ( he has said as much) but he never brings that to his public. We can pay it forward by following his example. If we are at peace
with our neighbors, we can hope for peace and justice in our time.

Just to clarify my initial thought...I would like to find ways to make a real difference in our country, our world. The inspiration behind my post
was most definitely Josh. What we do does not have to be collecting money or doing anything in regards to using his name...or it may be. There have
been a ton of good ideas already and many do not involve money or GFC. It may be organizing tree planting, a recycle project,..many different
things. If we do want to raise money AND we are using Josh's name we would make sure to play by all the rules required. My idea was to bring a
lot of great minds and talent that are already here..together in someway, to brainstorm and come up with a strategy and to define what making a
difference means to different people. Looking through the responses makes me proud and honored and I also realize I was correct about the

Those who have tech skills could help set up a website to bring awareness to the variety of causes so that others here can
access them and join in if they choose. Those with photoshopping/web design skills could help, as could anyone with time to help maintain it.
Maybe there would be fans who would like to help educate anyone reading by writing about the different causes and their
plights and solutions.
Teachers could get their students involved in some way with raising awareness, incorporating the issues into the
curriculum, or raising funds, like with a penny campaign. Individuals could do the same. Teachers could use the sites to track progress on any given
animal or cause throughout the school year and teach kids about giving back. Almost all primary teachers do the Flat Stanley project, they could send
Stanley to visit the person involved in the casue.
Let's say one cause is an animal shelter and a fan wants to help out with support. Someone else could donate food or
pet supplies. Maybe there are those here who work for vets who could offer input or medical supplies if needed. Maybe someone works at a pet store like
Petco and could work to see if they could donate items or food. Another fan might be able to collect blankets or other needed items. Maybe there would be
fans in the area who could then go and donate a few hours of their time or talents like taking pictures of the animals to post for adoptions, or someone
could help maintain their adoption website. Another fan could take the pics of animals needing families and post on Craigslist or put up flyers or help
pay for an ad in the paper. If someone else wanted to they could research the breed and share that info, or help with educating about
Any dog trainers or cat lovers? maybe they could offer advice to fans about training/raising pets.
If someone's cause was a battered woman's shelter, homeless shelter, red cross shelter, there are some talents
that may be put to use there...
Collecting and refurbishing toys, clothing, or other goods that the shelter may be able to use.
Setting up a site for those at the shelter to help find resources, or offer tutoring or literacy help, etc. for Moms and
kids, connect them with tutors, etc. Maybe offer help for those who are getting back on their feet by locating things they need, like household items, on
Graigslist in the their area. They all have a 'FREE' section, so people offer all kinds of things that someone trying to start over could really
use. Someone in the area could offer to help with pick up and delivery (keeping safety measures in mind, of course). Another resourse is FREECYCLE, most
areas have a group, someone could monitor it in search of needed items for people in their area.
Anyone with social work skills could offer their expertise, advice.
anyone with connections to medical, dental, etc. may be able to help with free care once in awhile for someone in their
area or offer to visit schools to give talks bout health and wellness.
Any attorney's? How about pro bono legal help?
Accountants/money managers? College kids could sure use advise on how to manage money and stay out of debt.
If the cause was environmental, say waterway cleanup...
Teachers/groups could raise awareness, arrange fieldtrips to help with creek cleanups, etc.
Again, techies could help set up a kid friendly website to raise awareness.
Families, school and scout groups could organize cleanup days or offer to take the trash to the dump once it is cleaned
In almost any scenario fans could help
*Photographers (photos for web sites, ads, awareness, etc.)
*Writers (flyers, site info, educational info)
*Educators (spread awareness through education, tutor, help prepare for SAT's, college and financial aid)
*Business people (soliciting others in the community to help, donations, incentives or offers of goods or services)
*Crafters ( clothing, blankets, animal beds, special needs items for animal rehab, making items for organizations
*Hairdresser's (organize a Locks of Love event or offer a free appointment to a different person once a week, say an
elderly person who can't afford it or a homeless or battered woman who is getting back on her feet and job hunting, a low income family who have kids
in need of haircuts, etc.)
*High school or college students, start a free tutoring service for local families, organize a highway cleanup, shop for
the elderly or homebound in your community.
*Animal lovers, offer to walk dogs or volunteer at a rehab center in your area or offer to help locate needed items like
kennels and crates and blankets through freecycle or Graigslist or something.
* Handymen/women, offer to help repair things at shelters, in the community, for the elderly living alone.
* Garderners, spring is here, grow and share your produce with someone in need, or brighten someone's day with
flowers. Or, share your gardening expertise or offer to weed or plant with/for an elderly or disabled person who loves it but can't do it themselves
and let them sit and chat with you will you work.
*Artists, artisans and musicians, offer to visit classrooms and give a demonstration or talk about what you love or offer
a few free hours of instruction each week.
So, you say you have no talents? Nothing, Nada, Zippo, Zilch?
Park in the parking lot of your local supermarket and watch for that harried Mom with 6 kids juggling groceries and babies
and purse and car keys...offer to help carry, load, whatever. ( not such a good idea for guys, may creep them out a little, lol)
Standing in line at the local fast food place or coffee shop and feeling inspired? Just as the person in front of you is
ready to pay, step in and pick up the tab.
Spring is here, local kids groups will be out practicing soccer, Tball, etc. Buy a couple of cases of water or some sport
drinks or fruit or other healthy snacks and do drive by random act of kindness, just drop them off as a donation and wish them good luck! Or, volunteer
Hook up with others here in the group and form a little street team for whatever you can do and keep it going, build on
it, encourage others to do it in their area.
Calling all GEEKS...
So many of us are clueless, teach us how to be more tech savvy! Create an online class!
Like to cook? There are tons of college kids here setting of smoke alarms every day, offer some online lessons to other
Speaking of smoke alarms...maybe you could buy on and offer to install it in a home without any, it could save lives!
(Carbon monoxide detectors too!)
Do-It-Yourselfer's? Teach others here how to change that doorknob or install tile or paint a room.
Any Martha Stewart's out there? Share with those of us devoid of all social graces.
Dear Abby wanna be? Add an advice column to the site.
Know it all? (ha! We know there are one or two out there!) Share your wealth of knowledge!
Moms? There is always another Mom out there looking for support, or ideas for a science project, or the name of a great
cookbook, or a remedy for babies teething pain. Share what you know!
Okay, sorry, I know I have rambled on, lol...anyway, just some thoughts.

HI Everyone...i hope you are all doing great.
I posted this a while back on the Raise 27 thread, and i think it is appropriate for this thread too (with your permission Gary)
Thank you for this wonderful thread,,,it is so needed.
Have you been touched by Josh? Have you been so filled with emotion that you feel your heart would explode from it?
Has Josh left you with a need in your soul....a hunger to reach out and fill someone else with the joy that you were feeling at that moment?
Have you just simply sat there...either listening to Josh sing, or watching one of his DVD'S..and cried. Not knowing how else to express
this 'high' or 'rush' that was coursing through your heart and soul? Just wanting to go up to Josh, and put your arms around him...and
thank him for what he is making you feel?
Are you dying to share with others what you are feeling and excited about telling them about JOsh?
Do you consider yourself a Grobanite?
Because if all this applies to you, how can you not feel compassion for others?
what we are feeling is a blessing.....Josh is blessing us with his music and it is our duty to share this blessing with others.
It is a sin to keep all this love inside of us, for ourselves. it is just benefiting us and not being put to any use for anyone else.
Josh is sharing it with us, unselfishly, handing it out to the world.
I see this year as the start of a new and exciting era for Grobanites all over the world.
who says that just because Josh is only a singer, he cant change the world, and just because we are only 'fans' we cant help him do it?
we may not all be important or famous people, but we still count...we each have a soul and a heart, with the capacity to feel love
and compassion...and these are the things that really count., these are the things that make the REAL difference.
Love is the most powerful tool in the world, not status, or riches, but simply real, heartfelt love.
The kind of love that Josh makes us feel inside. I have read many books and heard many people throughout my lifetime talk about
helping others, and reaching out....but it took someone like Josh to actually make me 'feel' it inside.
He makes us hungry to do 'the right thing'...to change ourselves for the better....to try to make a difference in the world.
It is sometimes the smallest pebble which creates the biggest rings when it hits the water.
You dont need to give a lot of money to make a difference...give whatever you can, as long as it is given from the HEART.
I know that many people are sick of hearing talk like this, but i really believe with my whole heart that this is possible.
I am just a simple person...nothing special and no different from anyone else. I dont have a job and i spend my life caring for my
children. My aim ...to prepare them as best as i can for a good future.
I cant live it for them, or control it to make sure they will have only happiness and success, but what i can do, is bring them up
with good morals and virtues.
To feel for others and have a conscience and a good sense of right and wrong.
This is my gift to them, it is all i have and i believe that as long as they have these things inside of them, they can weather any
storms which come their way in life.
So...this is who i am...just a normal woman.
But i see a world where the Grobanites are 'out there'..making a difference wherever and whenever they can. Where everyone
will know that they are the keepers of Josh's 'lighthouse' and that they can be trusted and called on to help where they can.
Doing ;'little things' which touch the heart and make it light...everyday things like giving someone a smile,,a hug...helping to carry
As Josh says in the song 'Its up to us to be the change'....and as each day goes by, i am more and more convinced that this is
meant to be.
I know for a fact that the Grobanites CAN change the world if they put all that love and inspiration into it, that Josh puts into us.
Everyone is needed....everyone matters. Like the parts of a car engine, each one has a role to play...a duty to perform to see
that the car runs smoothly and as it should.
Josh cares about us and the children, he feels their pain and their need in his heart. He has filled ours with so much joy and
love and warmth...he has welcomed us into his 'light'.
Let us now be the 'light' for the world to see and let us honour and thank him by welcoming others into our 'light;.
Josh needs every one of us to do that. Even if just to raise awareness as to the extent of the desperate 'need' in the world.
To make everyone aware that each person on earth can do something...no matter how small.
Soo many people dont bother to do anything because they think that it is always about money, and this scares them off.
They have to realise that this is not the case, as long as you can feel compassion for someone else, you can make a difference
in many different ways.
Not only for the children of Africa, but for all the people 'hurting' all over the world.
It is up to us to set an example,,,after all...we had the best teacher. Why shouldnt it be the Grobanites that make the difference?
Lets make 2008 the beginning of a new era in history ( I know it sounds silly, but it can be done)..the world never had a JOsh before
Lets make people aware of just how special he is, and honour his 'good name' and beautiful nature. They must know that Josh
Groban is not just a singer, but an inspiration and a great human being. He is the driving force behind each one of us, and judging by
what he has already accomplished and achieved in so many hearts and souls...there is no limit to what can be done.
IT IS POSSIBLE!!! Josh has shown us that.
I think we should have a special button (or maybe something else) made for this purpose, so that whenever we help someone in any way
they will know it is because of Josh and his touch and influence on our lives. Maybe even have a 'booklet' or pamphlet drawn up
explaining the aim of the Grobanites and info on JOsh.
He deserves nothing less, after all....he has changed OUR lives and our hearts for the better, why shouldnt we in turn, use what he has
given us to help someone else?
Thank you for this thread, and please forgive the length of this post...
God bless you all
