It is with great regret that Josh Groban announces that dates for his upcoming South African tour have been postponed. The new concert dates will be rescheduled and announced as soon as possible. Groban was due to perform a series of concerts commencing in Durban on March 16th. Groban's management has been trying to coordinate the tour for weeks, but due to the failure of the tour promoter, Duncan Heafield of Kusasa (PTY) LTD, to perform his obligations with regard to the tour, the tour dates have to be pushed back. Says Brian Avnet, Groban's manager, "We made the decision to reschedule the dates to ensure Josh's fans have the best possible live experience. To continue with the tour in March would just not be in the best interests of Josh's many fans in South Africa and we do not want to disappoint them." Says Josh Groban, "South Africa is very dear to me and I have never forgotten the spirit and passion shown to me on my last visit. It saddens me that due to circumstances beyond my control these shows must be postponed. But I am looking forward to returning very soon and giving my fans the experience they deserve." We have been advised by Ticketconnection that refunds for the shows they are involved with will be available at point of purchase (online at: www.ticketconnection.co.za or call: 0861 121 333 or at Mr. Price Everyday, Home and Sport outlets). Sun City refunds are available through Computicket (www.computicket.co.za). Josh Groban's South African tour dates were as follows: March 16 - Greyville Race Course, Durban Kwa-Zulu Natal March 18 - Bloemfontein's Oliwenhuis Homestead & Estate March 20 & 21 - Vergelegen Wine Estate, Cape Town March 25, 26 & 27 - Coca-Cola Dome, Johannesburg March 29 - Sun City Issued on behalf of Josh Groban and Brian Avnet. However, this move shows a great consideration on management's and Josh's part, and it is truly commendable that you guys want to have our interests first. It is never easy deciding between two undesirable options. My heart goes out to all those hurt and saddened by this turn of events: fans, management and Josh. Posts: 74 (03/08/08 09:42:20) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I'm so sorry about Josh-and-company's, and everyone else's, plans, , but I am wondering (just a thought - trying to help!) if those concerned about not being able to get refunds could perhaps sell their travel itinerary on ebay or something, as discount travel packages, for vacationers or other-event goers? Maybe travel agencies could also help you with that?

MAYBE, if you were in a position to, you could locate people who have not seen their families in a very, very long time there, and send them home to see them, with your travel plans. I don't know how much travel plans are transferable, security reasons and all, but it is just a thought that occurred to me. I've seen tremendously emotional family reunions on Oprah, etc., between children sent away from Africa to have better educations, etc., but who miss their loved ones and can't afford to reunite after years. Maybe if you all get together and create a sudden Foundation extension, something benevolent could come from your disappointment. Trying to help...

MAYBE, if people feel they have to go anyway, because they can't get their money back, Grobanites could go to Africa as ambassadors for Josh and his Foundation, to meet with the children there, maybe perform themselves for the children, have a meal with them, that kind of thing, teach them a craft or art or something. Take pictures and share everything on the boards! Why go anyway and feel bitter and angry the whole time, when things could turn out to be something you will never forget and feel so good about! I know there is no consoling anybody right now, but those children's faces could change that once there.

Africa would be an amazing place to visit at any time and to be able to do some good at the same time would be pretty fulfilling. Of course, I'm not among those who planned for this trip and I know they're devasted right now, but I hope those who can wait and still want to will be able to attend the concerts once they've been rescheduled. This was a no win situation all the way around and I feel badly for the fans that are losing out and for management and Josh for having to make such a hard decision. Judy in Chicago

They are absolutely crucifying Josh's management over on fojg. I'm sure this was a very, very difficult decision and one not made lightly. Kudos to those here who are looking for a silver lining.

I spoke with a South African fan today, via PM, and yes, she's upset...but, not mad at management....she's just disappointed that her concert has been postponed...that's a given, I don't blame her. ~Michelle

I know lots of performers who reschedule concerts for various reasons, running from sickness to themselves or family members, travel plans fell through, to not enough interest on the other end. Josh and his team are going to reschedule, and while I'm sure it is a disappointment, reading some of these threads made me think there had been a death in Josh's family or something else just as drastic. I'm sorry for those who didn't get to see him as planned, but think of it this way, your anticipation can continue to build until you are in an ecstatic frenzy!

It's just a completely different vibe over there. Here, while we acknowledge the disappointment, there are suggestions on how to make the best of it. Over at fojg it's just page after page of accusations and implications that management somehow made a thoughtful decision to keep the fans in the dark. Granted, tickets going on pre-sale two days ago and then this announcement today is unfortunate but I guess I'd prefer to believe that Josh's management did everything they possibly could and notified us as soon as it was humanly possible. I only wish they (the fojg posters) would find a positive light like the one that has been ignited here. You guys rock!

Josh always wants to do the very best, so I know he will be happier if good feelings are around him, and that the arrangements are all OK for both star and fans! How disappointing for him! Things happen for a reason, and things happen when they are meant to happen. Perhaps it's more important that you stick around in the States for now and spend more time here. Maybe andrea could help arrange something like that. Of course people extreme disappointment and frustration is understandable.
