You have contributed in so many wonderful, personal and loving ways. This year you have raised $245,000 for GFC and JGF with a total of $670,000 being raised by fans since our inception. That is an amazing accomplishment. It is your participation that is truly your gift to us, we know we have the most philanthropic fans out there and you prove it time and time again. Our gift to you is to make every dollar count! This year we were able to again help South Central Gifted Scholar Fund with donations and great send off college packages put together by Alice Parker and her team. With Andrea Cohen's help, we saw our little Zamimpilo orphanage come under the direction of an extraordinary organization called NOAH (Nurturing Orphans With Aids For Humanity) Under NOAH's direction, homes were found for the children, Zamimpilo became one of NOAH's arks renamed Siyawela (which appropriately means crossing over) and now 450 children are registered at the facility, getting daily meals and care. With your support we hope to continue the much needed help there. And, I am happy to share a report and pictures from a Christmas party that JGF provided a couple of weeks ago. You have taught us all how one person can make a difference. Lynn Allred, a GFC boardmember, came up with the idea of making pillowcases and totes for children in hospitals. With fans supplying fabric, other fans sewing, the project has continued to grow and expand into many hospitals across the country. JGF came in and supplied stuffed animals for the totes. Visiting hospitals and sharing in this project has been so gratifying for all of us. We also have dedicated fans knitting beanies for children in hospitals, (by the thousands!) because Janice LaFreniere came up with the Covered with Love project. Each year the fans collect toys for Toys For Tots. This year, also under Lynn Allred and her team, a mindblowing 3,458 toys were donated! We have a team of generous fans that make Africa their focus called Grobanites for Africa. Part of the money raised this year went to amazing Angelique Kidjo's Batonga Foundation, helping to provide an education to young women in need. Angelique is definitely an example of the power of one! She has been such an inspiration to us all.
So many people, doing so much for others. We are just so proud of you all and what you have accomplished! You reaffirm a belief in the good of mankind, that regardless of our differences, we are united in our wanting to help improve the lives of children.
My special thanks to the Board of Grobanites for Charity: to Val Sooky whose vision and intelligence guide this organization, to Maggie Boesel, Julie Clarke, Lynn Allred, Andrea Young, Meg Markus and Sandi Campbell for countless hours of work, organizational skills and a passion for new ideas that continue to make us grow.
Our heartfelt thanks to you all, you continue to inspire us and help us turn your love of Josh's music into so much more ! We are so grateful!!!! Our very best wishes to you for a wonderful holiday season and a new year filled with hope and joy.
