I know I tweeted this to you a few nights ago, but I am just making sure that you see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPgspgLNm4E&feature=related (The Awakening)
This was a song that I had the privilege of singing with the Wautoma High School choir my sophomore year of high school. Before this, I was just a singer... no
passion, no reason... I just sang because of what I call "stage ecstasy", you know the first round of applause that you get and you swell up with
pride... hence the term.
The moment that I was handed the music for this, I just looked at it as just another song. Later on, in study hall, in the choir room, I really read the music,
and the lyric... within moments I was in tears. Never had I seen anything more beautifully written in it's simplicity... and to think I was going to sing
this... and have a part in this... I was honored.
Mind you, being that this was a small town high school choir (Wautoma, WI's pop. is only about 3,500), we didn't have an orchestra, it was just the
piano. But pure the beauty of it was perfect. This song gave me a passion for music that very people that I know understand. This song made me realize what
life would be without music, and how important life is with it.
I have a strong belief about this song... that it should be sung by any able choir... and that it should be a choral standard.
I hope that you like this song, and that you see the message in this song as clearly as I do.
Thanks for listening.
