4TH OF JULY PSA - PLEASE READ THIS, IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE

Posts: 7154 (07/03/09 14:05:58) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Friend Block Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None my husband's 2nd cousin (his aunt's granddaughter) went out, the night before mother's day, to celebrate her 25th birthday with girlfriends. emily was not driving, but the girl she was riding with had been drinking - apparently standing up and talking you couldn't even tell she was drunk, but when she got behind the wheel of a car, she was a maniac (i'm getting this 2nd or 3rd hand, please keep in mind)....she lost control of the car, went off a cliff, sheared off the tops of trees.....they had to use the jaws of life to get emily out of the car.... she broke her neck in the accident, punctured a lung (i think), her heart stopped and they had to break ribs to get it going again - they had to cut the top of her head off because of the swelling in her brain....she has been in a coma since the night before mother's day - with a husband, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old at home.... i was informed this afternoon that emily passed away yesterday....they took her off life support, and within 10 minutes she was gone, leaving her husband to raise those 2 angels alone..... emily was not the one drinking and driving, but she never should have gotten in a car with someone who HAD been drinking....the person who HAD been drinking should have known better than to get behind the wheel of a car, should have said "hey, maybe we better call our husbands to come get us, or call a cab".... with 4th of july here upon us, and most everybody getting to revel in (at least) a 3-day weekend, please, PLEASE!!! i BEG YOU....do NOT drink and drive....do NOT get in a car with someone who HAS been drinking....if you think someone has been drinking and is TRYING to drive, call them a cab or take their keys away or call a cop if you have to.....IT WILL SAVE THEIR LIVES, AND OTHERS AS WELL!!!! have fun, but don't be stupid - don't let others be stupid....they may be pissed if you call a cop on them, but at least they'll BE ALIVE TO GET PISSED!!! if you drink and drive, it's not just YOUR life you're risking....and now my husband's family is grieving the loss of a beautiful, vivacious 25 year old mother of 2, because she stupidly got in the car with someone who had been drinking, because she didn't call a cab or her husband to come get her..... ------------------------------------------------- Jen ===DON'T LET ME GO IT ALONE=== Jerry - 1968 - 2008 "Goodbye, my lover, goodbye, my friend...you have been the one, you have been the one for me..." I got in the car with him a few times, suspecting. When I point-blank asked him if he had been drinking, he said yes, but that he was fine. I asked him to stop so that I could get out. He couldn't believe that I would ask him to do that because he 'was fine, no worries'. He didn't slow down at all so I told [not asked] him this time to stop the car. He was getting a little angry. Finally he stopped and we had a discussion. At the end, he drove home while I walked the rest of the way. Seems my talk just affected him for the safety of his passenger only and not him. Sad. I hope he will learn before it's too late. I don't care if you lick windows, take the special bus or occasionally pee on yourself.. You hang in there sunshine, you're friggin' special.

They can get arrested time and time again and they keep doing it. They can get as sick as a dog one night and be back bending their elbow the next night. I don't know what it would take to wake some of these folks up. Maybe a good long stint in jail. But judges tend to go easy on these guys because of the old - there but for the Grace of God thing. Some of them probably have done it too. THE BUCK DOESN'T EVEN SLOW DOWN HERE - KEEP MOVING!!
