Epalist, Thank you again for saying everything you have said. I wish freedom of speech could be maintained here, that we could at least attempt to bring
balance back to JG, but that looks to be impossible. "The "cool, fun side" needs to be with achieved with balance and responsibility, and when it isn't, people have a right to speak up. All
fun and games, without maturity and insight, has nearly destroyed Josh's sites, and nearly his reputation for millions. You won't likely see many of
the dissenters speaking up because the energy of "anything goes" insults and chases them off the boards, again and again, while the energy of healthy
people is to just retreat, not wanting to bring all that chaos into their homes. For every dissenting post that reaches these boards, there are tens of
thousands more dissenters out there who are having the same conversations with everyone around them, closer to home where they are more likely to not have
their "No!" challenged. Fun and games that wind up thousands of posts and blogs and "media" articles making claims and living in them
without having a clue is seriously irresponsible behavior. "Humor" like that, which is only for a very small group of people making it all about
themselves, deluding themselves with their aggression that the rest of the world chooses all things boundaryless in their lives, is irresponsible. A tiny group
of people think it's all about themselves. It isn't! "

Epalist partial post: The only people who would complain that you are hijacking a thread, which you haven't because this is my third or fourth post here, and I do see others too posting, are people who can't stand reading the truth of things or maybe it's just other peoples opinons they don't want posted? I don't see any one posting anything dirty, no innuendoes, no disrespect towards one another. Simple conversation, back and forth, between fan's. Sometimes we agree with each other and sometimes we don't. And we seem to be apologizing to one another now, if our statements were taken wrong or misconstrued. Can't see anything wrong with that either. All very civilized, at least reading the past few pages it seems to be. So why would it get locked or poofed? Talked to death about a certain subject? Maybe it needs or needed to be talked to death. Guess we can just sit back now and wait to see what happens. Thank you. Kit Honesty has a beautiful and refreshing simplicity about it. No ulterior motives. No hidden meanings. An absence
of hypocrisy, duplicity, political games, and verbal superficiality. As honesty and real integrity characterize our lives, there will be no need to manipulate
others.

"By the way, I just got a private message from Webmaster saying people are complaining about what I am writing in this thread, (three guesses from whom!)
claiming I've taken it over. I suggested deleting my posts, which will say more than I could EVER hope to say on behalf of those who need *Josh.*
It's all yours now, everyone. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here. (Three guesses!)"~Epalist Hi Epalist. Nice to meet you. I'm going to "guess" that Wyatt will eventually be "advised" by these "people" to *poof* the whole thread. And he always listens to these "people". I'm not sure why...maybe they send him homemade cupcakes.
It took me awhile to completely understand your posts. But I get what you are saying now. Way to go! |

"I could go on and on, but by now you are getting the idea. PEOPLE NEED JOSH GROBAN, and they have brought themselves to these forums, and directly to
Josh Please Read This and many other forums to tell him so directly!!!! They write to him about how down they were until they discovered him, and how his music
has given them the strength to carry on! They tell him how they are using specific songs that address specific issues they are having to face. They tell him
they are "cutters," and are using his work to try so hard not to make that next cut! They talk about how they are addicts or drink too much, and how
his inspirational music gives them reason to stop themselves at every next hit. And many, MANY google alerts have mentioned how Josh's music is being used
in school choirs, at talent contests, at weddings, or to say goodbye to a lost loved one." from Epalist
Ep- And I agree with what you said about those whose celebration of Josh goes beyond scruff and inuendos. Yes, some people need that special "magic" Josh has. It is his gift and how he has used it for good that so many are attracted to and are grateful for. I hope he continues to use his gift and share it in the way he has - because it has made such a difference in the lives of countless numbers of people. BUT that said, I think we have to be careful not to force OUR ideas of what Josh's image should or shouldn't be on him. It is not for us to make him feel obligated to conform to the way we wish to see him. He is his own person and as an individual he is as free to do as he pleases as we are free to express our opinions. I've noticed that some fans have become somewhat angry and resentful of Josh because of a few racy comments, words or other things he has said or done. And I have to admit that I myself rather liked the very first image I had of him after seeing his first DVD. But he is young and he is human, and we can't expect perfection from him nor should we expect him to continually conform to the image we prefer. So yes, Josh's music has healing powers, for many. And yes, he has inspired lots of people, like me, to express our supressed creativity. And yes, some of us are a little bit disappointed in an occasional comment. But I have confidence in Josh, that he has a good head on his shoulders, is kind and caring, is well grounded, and wouldn't want to be a bad role model. He may occasionally make mistakes, as we all do, but overall I think he has made good choices. There IS one thing I fear right now, however.... And that fear is that he may listen to a few people who don't have the good judgment and morals that he grew up with. I do sometimes worry about corrupting influences. But I trust that he is wise and can discern the difference between those with good character and those in whom it is lacking. ***************************************************************************** "It's a song about PEACE, a song about CHANGE, a song about HOPE" -Josh said about "Weeping |

Well, before you jump to any conclusions,, I have not,, repeat not.. mentioned this thread to Wyatt or anyone else... so you hint you know who it is..(the
three guess's comment) . it aint me... to be honest, I havent got the inclination. What I have to say, I say here... not behind anyones backs.
Im certain in my mind though, that you thought it was me! Whereas I stand up and post my thoughts, I guess there are some who won't or who don't have the courage. Perhaps I am stupid to come out and say whats on my mind, straight up... I don't know how to be any other way... Maggs xxxxxxx ![]()

Maggs, It isn't stupid to be straight up. To everyone in general, I have something to share that I feel is just a small example of why I and others really appreciate finding a light in this world. My brother was badly abused recently. He is mentally ill, and had moved from his group home in with a guy that lived next door to that group home who said he was his friend. Well, that guy had friends who picked on my brother. They shot him with a pellet gun while he was in the shower. They burned him with a hot cigarette lighter. They broke a board over his head. They held an arrow gun (you know what I'm talking about?) on him and told him to take off his clothes or they would shoot him. So my brother did. They then told him to lie down naked next to this man who was sleeping on the floor, or they would shoot him. So he did. And then they took pictures and said they would post them on the net. My brother put up with this for a week before he called my dad for help because he thought maybe they would finally quit and he would be accepted by this group or something. It is during times like this that I really need to see light in this world. I do of course look to God, the ultimate sourse of all light. But I also feel a strong need to find light here, among my fellow man. I need to know there is more in this world than sick stuff like what my brother just went through. Josh has been a source of that light. I have never expected him to be perfect or to not make mistakes. That wouldn't be human. But that is why I try to encourage this messege board (and him if he reads it) in a positive direction, instead of going with the general flow of anything goes. Cause if anything goes...then what? Ep, I am so sorry to hear you got a warning from the webmaster. I feel partially responsible b/c I perpetuated the conversation, but so far
no warning. Maybe he just hasn't gotten to me yet. I thought we were having a civil and meaningful exchange about fan perceptions, media perceptions and
sense of humor. I did not realize we had to equate our conversation specifically to the article posted on the first page. Perhaps permuda should have given us
the ground rules when she started the thread, that way we could all remain on topic and not "hijack" the thread and move it in another direction.
Maggs, kudos to you for standing up and speaking out, this is how it should be. Your name did not cross my mind at all when I read that and
I have no clue who complained. Seems to me the only person who had a right to do that would have been the thread author if it bothered her.

Oriana, I'm so sorry to hear about all that happened to your brother. That was awful! I hope he is healing now.
I know what you mean about needing to find a light in this world. Josh's music is a light to me and so many people, and he is a delight to read about. I love reading his interviews because often there is humor there that is refreshing. His genuineness and open honesty is refreshing as well. To me that makes him a light in the darkness, human and fallible as he is. I hope he always stays his humble self. Yes, it was a very interesting article, to be sure. Always lots to talk about when it comes to such a multi-talented, multi-faceted person as Josh. ***************************************************************************** "It's a song about PEACE, a song about CHANGE, a song about HOPE" -Josh said about "Weeping |

Well, I need to post a quick addendum here before going, because...
(1) there was none of that, WBRWebMaster. There still isn't. (2) You (WBRWebMaster) said there were "alot" of people complaining about my posts, so it naturally followed that those who were being addressed in my posts would be making those complaints, hence "three guesses." Maggs, you honestly never crossed my mind. (3) When someone, such as permuda (who may not have been on that "alot" list) starts LOTS of media article threads in Josh Media all the time, unless there can be at least TWO threads for each of those, there can never be any dissent. Therefore, Josh Media threads SHOULD be open to those who feel the need to address the issues within those articles. If not, I agree...censorship, and nobody grows, on either side of the barricades! (In other words, in Josh MEDIA, it is about the ARTICLE, not who posted the article. Free press, free country and all! The poster in MEDIA does not OWN the article!) (4) I LOVE reading all your comments here, everyone, including Maggs, because balance IS balance, but it is such a wonderful change of scenery to see things moving toward healthy and selfless balance for Josh's sites. I have made copies of your posts, right back, thank you guys, for "comfort" of my own, to quote you of mine, and I am really enjoying reading what everyone is saying. Oriana, I am so, soooo sorry about your brother! I am very close to MY brother and I adore him, curly josh hair and all! *Creating Josh*

Hmmmm, I never saw anyone targeted in this thread but rather certain attitudes and behaviors. And honestly, at times, I thought - "Geesh, she
could be talking about me. Is she talking about me?" What made me think that? I'd guess my own guilty conscience accused me even if no one else
was.
WYATT (or whoever) - I absolutely don't mean to be so presumptuous as to suggest to you how to do your job but I have seen you advise people in the past that if they have a problem with a specific post or poster they should handle it privately via PMs. I've done that and sometimes the poster sees my point and edits their post and sometimes they don't. I've never felt the need to then contact any of the various moderators we have had over the years about any specific post or poster who simply irritates me or whose ideas or even style of expression I disagree with. Peace, indeed. But not at the expense of suppression of ideas, IMO. That usually eventually causes a revolt. ((ORIANA)) - the things people will go along with just to be accepted by people. Goodness, this thread certainly got heavy for a while there! While I DO agree with epalist that Josh is an incredible artist and a wonderful role model, who
inspires people to do good things (Zamimpilo, Beanie Brigade, GFC) I must object to the idea that we must talk only about his apparent mission to save the
poor, the downtrodded, the sick, the halt and the lame. I don't for a minute believe that Josh set out to save the world. He set out to be a musician and
somehow the role of spiritual helper, saviour, inspiration, whatever you want to call it, was THRUST upon him. He's a young man, first and foremost, and
he's got a lot of mind-blowingly heavy things to deal with. He has an extremely busy schedule, great demands on him personally and professionally, a
limited personal life, no privacy, and people making mountains out of any molehill on his horizon. Everything about him is discussed and dissected, analyzed
and criticized ad nauseum....sometimes because something strikes a nerve with people and sometimes just because of the sheer number of people on here who want
to give their opinion. But when all is said and done he's "just a man"....supremely talented, good-looking, kind, funny and sweet....but
he's human and he thinks things, says things and does things that HE finds appropriate or funny or just WANTS to say, think or do, just for the HECK of it.
He doesn't OWE us anything, he doesn't need to BE what we need....he just needs to be JOSH and make beautiful music. Whatever fantasy we create
around us that involves our perception of who Josh is, whatever standards we want to hold him to, whatever purpose we think he serves, it's all our own
personal interpretation. Josh is just who he is. We are trying to make him be what we want him to be....each of us, millions of us, pressuring him,
"creating" him in our own image, and he just can't do it. He's just one man....he can't be everything that each person on the boards
wants him to be. Let's just cut him some slack, give him some peace and time to BE. He'll reward us with his beautiful voice and beautiful music.
Why should we ask any more than that from him?
